I have always had an interest in helping people, and this was one of the main reasons why I went into dentistry (I was a dental nurse and tutor in my previous career) and then later into beauty training over 10 years ago. Having become a beauty therapist, I discovered that I really enjoyed doing body treatments, alternative therapies which are hands-on, helping people to relax and deal with their ailments. I now perform a wide range of beauty treatments, all waxing including intimate waxing, reflexology, hot stone massage, Thai compress massage and others.
One of my good friends had IBS, and she went for colonic irrigation and I was amazed at how much it helped her. That’s how I ended up training as colon therapist in Summer 2008. I really enjoy doing colonics. I now have a much deeper appreciation of how all treatments complement each other. When I give someone a massage, I can feel impacted colon; when I give a reflexology treatment I always feel if the liver is in need of support. Lots of people have digestive problems and don’t discuss them, but at least they can talk to me and I know I can help. A lot of it comes down to colonics and nutrition.
Personally, after the training and learning about nutrition and the bowel I have lost a stone, and I am a lot healthier. I have so much more energy. Colonic training has helped me in more ways than I could imagine. My son had digestive problems and was diagnosed with a bowel obstruction. I am managing his condition with probiotic supplements and colon massage, and the obstruction has cleared without any drugs. I never thought I could do something like this, you can’t put a price on some things in life. I love what I do, love helping people, that’s me – “Helping Hands Kat”.
