I employ all the skills and experience from my work as a naturopath in my approach to colon hydrotherapy so I treat the person as a whole, not just a subject for colon cleansing. I integrate all my knowledge of mind, body and spirit (having done the Anthony Robbins Mastery University course), in treating the presenting problem. My first degree was in Psychology which often helps me to understand the psychological elements present underlying a physical condition and this helps me to offer support on an emotional and psychological level, which is critical when dealing with a sensitive system like the digestive system.
I also feel that medical science and natural methods can and should work hand in hand and sometimes we need to use pharmaceutical solutions for short term treatment and restore the natural balance long term with more natural approaches – this is the essence of Integrative Medicine. For example, sometimes a pharmaceutical antibiotic is needed to treat an acute infection quickly, and natural medicine can offer the restorative probiotic re-population needed after such treatment to prevent further problems.
We use methods and treatments which have sound scientific rationale for physical efficacy, but we also take into account the needs of the mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of the person and will often recommend stress-relieving suggestions and counselling where appropriate.
Our colon hydrotherapy treatments always start with a one-hour free consultation taking in all aspects of health history, current problems and lifestyle and relationships, as all these things have an impact on the health of the individual. This is why we consider our approach to be integrative.
I work with Jason Vale, the Juice Master, to create and deliver the Natural Juice Therapist Course (which I also wrote) and teach at the Juicy Academy in Northampton. I have regular slots on BBC 3 Counties Radio to discuss health issues and natural healing approaches to life and health. This all helps to raise public awareness of natural health and colon hydrotherapy and the benefits of cleansing and detoxification.
